Calgrove fire snarls traffic in Santa Clarita

A brush fire in Santa Clarita is creating traffic headaches during the rush-hour commute. The 5 Freeway was briefly shut down as firefighters battled the 200-acre blaze.

What we know so far:

  • 200 acres burned, 25% contained
  • 450 firefighters are working blaze
  • One firefighter with a minor burn injury was taken to a hospital
  • Two lanes have reopened on northbound 5 at Gavin Canyon. All lanes have reopened on the southbound 5.
