Victims identified in plane crash that followed mid-air collision
The Los Angeles County coroner has identified two people killed in a plane crash last month in the Santa Monica Mountains near Calabasas.
Cheryl Jolene Strawn, 69, and Christopher James Wade, 63, died April 29 after the Cessna they were in collided with another aircraft and then crashed.
The crash sparked a small brush fire, which charred about an acre in the parched area. The blaze was quickly extinguished, fire officials said.
Strawn was a production designer on the “Nightmare on Elm Street†movies, according to a Facebook page dedicated to the series.
The plane collided with another Cessna, which made a belly landing near the third hole of the Westlake Golf Course in Westlake Village. County fire officials and witnesses said the landing gear was still up when the plane touched down.
All three people aboard that plane survived. One of the people aboard complained of back pain and was taken to a hospital.
