A 16-year-old high school student in Burbank was arrested Thursday evening after a message perceived as being threatening was posted on his Twitter account, police said.

The tweet -- “You’ll probably see me on the news some day for what I’m going to do tomorrow†-- was posted around 6:30 p.m. Background and profile photos on what appears to be the student’s Twitter page also feature people holding guns.

The message “raised some flags†and officers were sent to the John Burroughs High student’s home after Burbank police received calls from concerned parents, Sgt. Claudio Losacco told the Burbank Leader.

No weapons were recovered from the student’s home, and the family was cooperating with the investigation, police said.

Police are investigating whether the tweet rose to the level of a criminal threat. Burbank Unified could also take administrative action against the student, independent of the criminal investigation, police said.
