Metro Blue Line service in downtown Long Beach suspended
Los Angeles County Metro Blue Line service in Long Beach has been suspended until further notice, officials said.
The train’s overhead power was damaged at 9th Street and Long Beach Boulevard, forcing Metro to shut down trains in downtown Long Beach, said department spokesman Marc Littman.
Service along the 22-mile stretch of light rail between the Willow Street station and downtown Los Angeles is operating normally, he said. However, riders south of the Willow Street station will have to depend on buses until at least noon, Littman added.
Service along the Blue Line will be delayed at least 15 minutes during rush hour, officials said.
The Blue Line is Los Angeles County’s busiest light rail line, serving some 88,000 customers daily between Long Beach and Los Angeles, Littman said. It’s among the three busiest lines in the country, he added.
