5-car accident snarls traffic on west 10 Freeway in Central L.A.
The California Highway Patrol shut down two lanes of the westbound 10 Freeway in Central L.A. on Tuesday afternoon following a five-car wreck involving an overturned SUV.
At least two people were taken to a local hospital, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brain Humphrey said.
Calls reporting the accident near the Vermont Avenue exit came into the Highway Patrol around 1:14 p.m. Tuesday, Officer Ming Hsu said. The first call reported a blue Lincoln Navigator overturned in the fast lane. The second call reported that five vehicles were involved, including the overturned SUV.
Officials issued a SigAlert and closed the two far left lanes, and traffic was backed up from the 5 Freeway. Eastbound traffic was slow from Robertson Boulevard to the site of the accident, near Hoover Street.
