Earthquake: 3.4 quake strikes near Brawley

A shallow magnitude 3.4 earthquake was reported Thursday afternoon two miles from Brawley, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 12:38 p.m. PDT at a depth of 6.8 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was nine miles from Imperial, 13 miles from El Centro, and 21 miles from Calexico.
In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
