Sikh community reaction: In the Aug. 7 LATExtra section, a production error caused two names to be changed in an article about the reaction in the Southern California Sikh community to the fatal shooting at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin. Prashant Raj was misspelled as Peasant Raj; Jagjit Singh Reen was misspelled as Jaggy Singh Rein.

David Jones: In the July 29 Business section, an article about West Hollywood florist David Jones misspelled the last name of philanthropists Bunny and Paul Mellon as Melon. The article and a subsequent For the Record item also misidentified Paul Mellon as Bill.

Medical marijuana: In the July 31 LATExtra section, an article about medical marijuana supporters’ campaign contributions to Los Angeles City Council members who opposed a ban on pot dispensaries said that Councilman Bill Rosendahl had told The Times he had a prescription for medical marijuana. Rosendahl has a written doctor’s recommendation to use the drug, not a prescription.

Bram Goldsmith: An article in the Aug. 5 Business section about longtime City National Bank executive Bram Goldsmith included a photo of him with the Jacksons. The accompanying caption said Michael Jackson was shown displaying his No. 1 single “Shake Your Body.” The song, whose full title is “Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground),” was recorded by the Jacksons and peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in May 1979.

Vin Scully: In the Aug. 8 Sports section, a column about Vin Scully’s call of Dodgers pitcher Sandy Koufax’s perfect game 47 years ago said that Scully’s call of Kirk Gibson’s famous World Series home run came 33 years after the perfect game. It was 23 years later.
