Who’s Hot: The Cypress girls’ team, which won the Huntington Beach Edison Invitational on Saturday after posting the fastest team times in the Long Beach Millikan Invitational on Sept. 13 and in the Fullerton Sunny Hills Invitational the following week. The Centurions are led by senior Stephanie Torres and junior Lauren Jirges.

Meet of the Week: Orange County championships at Irvine Regional Park, Saturday, 8 a.m. Dana Point Dana Hills and Anaheim Esperanza will try to defend their respective boys’ and girls’ titles. Dana Hills posted a runaway victory in winning its first county title last year, but should receive a challenge from Fountain Valley on Saturday. Esperanza is favored to win its third consecutive girls’ title, and fourth in six years, with Cypress, Fountain Valley, Irvine Woodbridge and Dana Hills topping the list of challengers. Brandon Bethke of Lake Forest El Toro and defending champion Michael Haddan of Woodbridge are expected to battle for the boys’ individual title, assuming Haddan runs in the sweepstakes race as he did last year. Sophomore Crystal Reed of Fountain Valley is favored to win the girls’ title.
