Briana Santos (5-0) threw a five-hitter, striking out seven with no walks, and went two for three to lead host No. 2 Mater Dei (11-2), which had a pair of run-scoring groundouts in the sixth inning. Foothill, ranked No. 8, is 7-4.

Winning pitcher Lisa Geer (6-0), who allowed four hits and struck out 13, helped her own cause with a game-deciding solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to give No. 19 Canyon (7-4) fifth place. Woodbridge dropped to 4-5.

Winning pitcher Brittany La Rosa (3-1) squeezed home one run in the bottom of the fifth inning, and Kristen Miller followed with an RBI double for the No. 8 Brahmas (4-2), who play Fullerton Rosary Monday at 3 p.m. Both teams had seven hits, but Mater Dei (10-2), ranked second in the Southland, hit into four double plays.

Catcher Rosa Ordaz singled in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth to win the first game for Santa Monica (6-0). Sophomore Tyra Maxwell pitched two complete games and improved to 5-0. Maxwell pitched a shutout, allowing seven hits and striking out eight, in the first game and allowed four hits and struck out six in the second game. Teammate Hannah Rose Peters had two hits with two RBIs and Lana Bowie had two hits, including an RBI triple, in the second game. Culver City is 4-2.

In the first game, Ashley Dozier went three for four with three RBIs and Christina Gonzales went two for three with a double, a triple and three RBIs to lift host Savanna. In the second game, Chanel Hogue pitched a one-hitter for Savanna (7-2). Katella drops to 1-5.

Taylor Peyton allowed one earned run to run her record to 4-1, and was three for three with a double and four runs batted in for Rosary (5-2). Christen Lee went three for four and scred three of Rosary’s runs. Foothill falls to 7-3. Rosary plays either Diamond Bar or Mater Dei for the tournament title Monday at 3 p.m.

Heather Slettvet was four for five and was the winning pitcher on a three hitter with 14 strikeouts for Canyon (6-4). Murrieta (1-2) tied it in bottom of seventh on a two out error and Canyon in a tie-breaker in the ninth on a passed ball.

Cajon will play Don Lugo in the semifinals at the Big League Dreams in Chino.
