CBS cancels first-season dramas ‘Battle Creek,’ ‘Stalker’

The battles are over for “Battle Creek” -- and “Stalker” too.

Word came late Friday that CBS has axed “Battle Creek” the low-rated crime drama from “Breaking Bad” mastermind Vince Gilligan, starring Josh Duhamel and Dean Winters as mismatched lawmen in the Michigan city.

“Battle Creek” premiered in March to a respectable 7.9 million total viewers, according to Nielsen. But the show had trouble building an audience and more recently has been logging just over 6 million viewers.

The finale is scheduled to air May 24.

Meanwhile, “Stalker,” the procedural starring Maggie Q and Dylan McDermott, was yanked as well. The show returned in late April from a nine-week layoff and delivered a series-low 5.7 million total viewers. The finale is due May 18.

“We are so grateful to have had the time we had!” Maggie Q tweeted on Friday. “See you guys on the next one.”

More canceled shows may come over the next few days. CBS is set to officially roll out its fall schedule on Wednesday with a presentation before media buyers in New York.
