Twitter #weekendeats highlights: Plenty of fish in the sea
Meatless Monday seems to be an ongoing theme during our Monday morning #weekendeats chats. There are pictures and recipes for vegetarian dishes of all variations. This week, the chat participants invited seafood to the party. Prawns, mussels, yellowfin — our friends from the sea made an appearance in everything from fish tacos to soup.
Hong and Kim, also known as the Ravenous Couple, shared a recipe for canh chua Vietnamese sour tamarind soup with prawns and some great pictures of the Mekong Delta. Karen of the blog Tasty Trials shared a recipe for coconut curry mussels, and ever heard of somtum pu plara? It’s papaya salad with raw blue crab and fermented fish sauce, shared by @sinosoul.
Jessica Christensen, chef at City Tavern in Culver City, shared a picture of her seared yellowfin with gingered watermelon and wasabi caviar. Jessica of the blog Jessica’s Free Foodie Blog, shared a recipe for fish tacos with guacamole and pineapple salsa made with wild hake fillets. Rima Lyn of the blog Taco Maven tweeted a picture of her dinner from El Rosario in Baja California of halibut with garlic sauce.
Did we put you in the mood for seafood? Here are some seafood recipes (everything from baked mackerel to to classic cioppino) from the Los Angeles Times Test Kitchen.
After the chat, we ask people to upload pictures of their #weekendeats to our What did you eat this weekend? photo gallery. We’ll feature some of the photos here on Daily Dish, so be sure to check back for more #weekendeats and #foodporn throughout the week.
Hope to see everyone next Monday morning on Twitter! It’s sure to be a drool-worthy good time.
