Tiki-Ti bar to reopen Friday: ‘Indefinitely closed’ didn’t last long

Tropical-drink lovers can breathe a sigh of relief: Tiki-Ti is coming back.

Just two weeks after saying it was closed for “restructuring and stuff,” the classic Polynesian-themed bar said Wednesday afternoon that it will reopen Friday.

“The Tiki Ti is proud to announce our return to normalcy. Starting Friday, May 22, we are back to our regularly scheduled shenanigans,” its announcement said. “We will be open from 4 p.m.-2 a.m. this Friday and Saturday, returning to our regular days and hours.”

The tiny Los Feliz bar, which boasts 92 tropical drinks and only 12 stools, is usually open Wednesdays through Saturdays and jam-packed with regulars.

Vicky Buhen -- the wife of Mike Buhen, whose father Ray founded the bar in 1961 -- confirmed the happy news.

“We are definitely coming back Friday,” she told the Los Angeles Times.

On May 6, the bar had abruptly announced that it was “indefinitely closed,” sparking concern among its loyal clientele.
