Superba Food & Bread, the spin-off of Superba Snack Bar in Venice, is expected to open in February, and Jason Travi, currently the chef at Littlefork in Hollywood, has been named its executive chef.

Jason Neroni, the chef at Superba Snack Bar, will be a consultant at the Lincoln Boulevard spot, which will offer “reasonably priced†California-influenced American cuisine centering on locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. The neighborhood restaurant also plans to deliver daily fresh bread via bicycle to Venice locals.

“This second concept under the Superba name will focus on breads and fresh pastries and offer a community gathering spot,†owner Paul Hibler said in a release. Hibler is owner of both Superba and the Pitfire Artisan Pizza chain.

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily (with weekend brunch and dinner), Superba Food & Bread’s menu will include dishes such as kimchi and brown rice with fried egg, gingerbread pancakes with spiced pears, pastrami and Swiss cheese sandwiches, pirogis with smoked potato and Jarlsberg, smoked turkey pot pie, beef rib pot roast, rhubarb pie and root beer floats. Rye, sourdough and Pullman bread are also baked daily in a large oven imported from Italy.

Travi has worked in some of L.A.’s most notable restaurants, including Spago, Gino Angelini’s La Terza and Fraiche in Culver City. “[Jason Neroni and I] both enjoy experimenting and taking risks,†Travi said in the release, “so I know that we will complement each other well in the Superba Food & Bread kitchen.â€
