Bo Nuage, Paris-inspired ‘cloud’ cake shop, to open on Melrose in November
Bo Nuage, a pastry shop specializing in French nuage (cloud) cakes, is planning to open on Melrose Avenue on Friday, Nov. 15. Bo Nuage (the part-homophone for “beautiful cloudâ€) is owned by Pascal and Audrey Achcar, whose family also founded Lette Macarons, and was inspired by Parisian bite-sized cakes made of whipped cream sandwiched between two layers of meringue, covered in more whipped cream and shaved white chocolate.
The take-away patisserie will have 15 flavors of the mini cakes ($6 each) in boxes of one, two, four or six, as well as 6- and 9-inch cakes for special occasions.
Pascal Achcar makes the cakes in flavors including dark chocolate, vanilla, salted caramel, coffee, lemon, passion fruit, pistachio, strawberry, coconut, almond, red velvet, chocolate peanut butter, Nutella, mango and chocolate mint. There will be gluten-free and non-dairy options.
Bo Nuage also will serve Lamill coffee, tea and other to-go beverages.
“We wanted to continue the family tradition of making fine Parisian pastries available†in Los Angeles, Achcar said in a statement.
Designed by L.A. designer Jessica Marx of J. Marx Atelier, the 120-square-foot store (with 1,250 square feet of kitchen and office space in the back) has a minimalistic black and white color scheme with a striped marble tiled floor, rose gold cluster chandelier and black and white graphic molding, with a large glass display case for the cakes as its centerpiece.
It will open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
8010 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles, (310) 880-2065, www.bonuage.com.
