CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists pop up at Nordstrom

Nordstrom at the Grove is one of six Nordstrom stores nationwide that are opening pop-up shops to showcase and sell a curated selection of items by finalists in the 2012 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards, which help talented clothing, jewelry and accessories designers advance their businesses. The Grove’s Nordstrom pop-up is slated to open Monday.

The top award winner was Greg Chait’s Los Angeles-based The Elder Statesman, which makes cashmere clothing, accessories, blankets and quilts. Runners-up were Los Angeles jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer and N.Y.-based shoe designer Tabitha Simmons. Other finalists were Andrea Lieberman of A.L.C., Greg Armas of Assembly New York, Sofia Sizzi of Giulietta; Justin Salguero and Daniel and Alina Silberman of Illesteva; Jennifer Fisher of Jennifer Fisher Jewelry; Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty of Suno and Wes Gordon of Wes Gordon.

The Grove is at 189 the Grove Drive, Los Angeles.

South Bay Galleria plans to usher in the Chinese Year of the Snake with special performances, crafts and gifts from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday. Local dancers are to perform the traditional Lion Dance, a kung fu demonstration is on tap and children will be able to make dragon and snake puppets to take home. The first 100 children at the event will each receive a red envelope containing $2, in keeping with a Chinese New Year gift-giving tradition. The events are scheduled to take place at the center court at the Galleria, 1815 Hawthorne Blvd., Redondo Beach.

Imagine a handbag that’s a party-on-the-go, thanks to Bluetooth-enabled speakers. That’s how Stelle Audio Couture describes its new collection of “Audio Clutches,†set to debut along with the company’s “Pillar†chic wireless speaker at a party Thursday at Ron Robinson at Fred Segal, 8118 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood. The event is from 4 to 7 p.m. and includes free drinks from Beachwood Brewing and BBQ, beauty consultations by Per-Fekt and tunes from DJ Klypso.

Co-op 28 Handmade and Vintage is celebrating the launch of a new men’s store in Los Feliz with a party from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday at 1728 N. Vermont Ave. The event will feature live jazz by singer Jessalyn Brooks and a performance by comedian Bob Schriner. The men’s store will carry handmade or vintage clothing, accessories, home goods and gift items.

Jewelry designer Ippolita is scheduled to make a personal appearance at Neiman Marcus Beverly Hills from noon to 2 p.m. Friday. She will be showing off her spring designs, including the new Stella collection, which features sterling silver and diamonds with mother of pearl, turquoise, blue topaz and other stones. Pieces range from $495 to $2,995. Neiman Marcus, 9700 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills.

Wardrobe Ltd., a luxury fashion consignment company, has opened a shop at the OC Mart Mix, 3313 Hyland Ave., Costa Mesa. The small store plans to feature only about 100 curated items at a time. Shopping center hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and Monday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Exhale Mind/Body Spa celebrates its grand opening in the Loews Hollywood Hotel with a special event from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13. The party will include complimentary mini-manicures, mini-massages and brow waxing on a first-come, first-served basis; swag bags for the first 100 guests; plus music and snacks. Petunia Pickle Bottom, known for its diaper bags and other gear for expecting and new moms, has opened its first retail store, at 305 S. Kalorama St. in Ventura. The company also plans to launch a regular women’s brand and a men’s accessories brand this spring. The shop is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Celebrity hair stylist Robert Vetica (A-list clients include Hilary Swank, Eva Longoria, Cate Blanchett, Salma Hayek and more) has opened a salon at Ciel Spa at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills. The salon is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week, with a signature wash and blow dry starting at $75 and a fully-styled up-do going for $150. The hotel is at 465 S. Señor Tyrone, creator of the Señor Tyrone poncho, will host a trunk show from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Ron Robinson at Fred Segal, 8118 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles.

Regalo at the SLS Hotel Beverly Hills plans a Valentine’s-themed trunk show featuring handmade jewelry by Naz & Jaz of Beverly Hills, as well as gift items from Kiki de Montparnasse and D.L. & Co.
