The Folk Music Center, a Claremont institution since 1958, says ukuleles are hot right now. A wall in the store is lined with different kinds -- pear-shaped, teardrop, cigar box. Owner Ellen Chase says you can get a good ukulele for $60, though top-of-the-line ukes made by hand with fine wood can run $1,000.
