When it comes to comfort food, for some, potatoes reign supreme. During our Monday morning #weekendeats chat, participants shared how potatoes played starring roles in their weekend fare. Here’s a look at the highlights:
Jenny Johnson of the blog VintageSugarcube.com shared a photo of Charlie’s Cherubs mini sweet potato chai-infused angel food cakes, and Shirley of the blog Lovelylanvin.com shared a photo of her roast chicken with Japanese sweet potatoes, called satsumaimos.
For those who love the classic baked potato, Brooks Walker from the blog Cakewalkr.com prepared baked potatoes with all the trimmings as part of his Applewood Smoked Saturday with an entire spread that also included tri-tip and grilled shrimp with apples. From the blog Mango & Tomato, here’s a recipe for baked sweet potato fries with a Greek yogurt and cilantro dipping sauce. Susan Orlins also shares an easy recipe for fried potatoes
For more potato fun, here are some recipes from the L.A. Times Test Kitchen:
Double-mashed potatoes (patatas revolconas)
Brown butter mashed potatoes with fried sage
Pav bhaji (Spiced mashed vegetables with soft rolls)
After the chat, we ask people to upload pictures of their #Weekendeats to our What did you eat this weekend? photo gallery. We’ll feature some of the photos here on Daily Dish, so be sure to check back for more #Weekendeats and #foodporn throughout the week.
Hope to see everyone next Monday morning on Twitter! It’s sure to be a drool-worthy good time.
