Salastina Music Society’s ‘Audible Feast’

In collaboration with pop-up supper club Foodloveswine, the Salastina Music Society presents “An Audible Feast” on Aug. 12 in downtown L.A.

Founded by violinists and chamber musicians Maia Jasper and Kevin Kumar, Salastina Music Society is a classical concert series that aims to bring a dose of culture to Los Angeles through what it calls “a contemporary take on the salon tradition.” The society’s performances include musical selections drawn from the Renaissance through present day, an emphasis on vocal chamber music, audience participation and an assortment of atmospheres to enhance the classical music experience. Past performance perks include a post-concert ice cream reception as well as collaborations with comics.

“An Audible Feast,” the society’s latest project, features five evenings per year of music, food and wine programmed around a theme that commemorates the four seasons. The upcoming event will celebrate summer with musical renditions from Vivaldi, Piazzolla and Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess” as well as an original arrangement of the “The Last Rose of Summer.” Each performance piece will be intermixed with a dish it inspired: chilled watercress and almond soup, empanadas, sausages and homemade pickled vegetables.

The evening kicks off with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $125 per person. Location details will be revealed to ticket holders 48 hours before the event. Purchase tickets and check out menu details online.
