Love beer? Love chocolate? Love them together? (And why wouldn’t you?) Then this is your month. Beer and chocolate are officially a thing, with two pairing events on the horizon: one at Hangar 24 Craft Brewery in Redlands, along with San Diego chocolatier David Bacco, and the other at Library Ale House, featuring Stone Brewing and ChocoVivo.

Hangar 24 Craft Brewery‘s head brewer Kevin Wright and Bacco present six craft beer and chocolate pairings on Monday at Hangar 24 in Redlands: Helles Lager with Estragon, a tarragon and licorice root chocolate truffle; Orange Wheat beer with Joyeux, lemon-caramel marzipan; Gourdgeous strong porter featuring pumpkins grown a mile from the brewery with Nilgiri chai tea in 49% milk chocolate; California-style Double IPA with Rio mango and passion fruit caramel; Russian Imperial Stout with Cremello caramel-scented milk chocolate truffle and Serene creamy salted milk chocolate ganache; Immelmann, aged in rye barrels, with Capriccio caramelized almonds and Vietnamese cinnamon in gianduja. 7 p.m. Limited tickets are available for $25 in the brewery’s Tasting Room and the online store. On Halloween at Library Ale House in Santa Monica, Stone Brewing and home brewer Ken Schmidt release their Iron Fist Mint Chocolate Imperial Stout, and ChocoVivo has made a special malt and citrus-infused chocolate especially for the event. Also included are two flights of beer and chocolate pairings. The “Old Beer, Fresh Chocolate†pairing includes: 2011 Belgo Anise Imperial Russian Stout with Mayan chile and cinnamon chocolate; 2010 Imperial Russian Stout with coffee-vanilla chocolate; and 2011 Highway 78 Scotch Ale with caramel-and-sea-salt. “There’s Something in My Beerâ€: Espresso Sublimely Self-Righteous with Crystal malt and citrus-infused chocolate; Vanilla Bean Smoked Porter with Shangri La black sesame and goji berry chocolate; and Mint Chocolate Imperial Stout with ChocoVivo 75% cacao chocolate.
