Barbrix all-night happy hour; Kings Row pig roast; truffles at Saam
Halloween happy hour: Silver Lake wine bar Barbrix celebrates Halloween with all-night happy hour on Wednesday. From 6 p.m. to closing, that’s half off wines by the glass and Acme on tap. Also, Halloween cocktail specials include Gory Eyeball Prosecco ($8), Bloody Acme ($5), Radioactive Slim Prosecco ($8). Shave the Date party and pig roast: Pasadena gastropub Kings Row kicks off Movember (grow-a-moustache month in support of men’s health) with Shave the Date, offering complimentary shaves on its patio and hosting a pig roast along with sponsor Eagle Rock Brewery. Partial proceeds of beer sales will be donated to the Movember cause. For the month of Movember, Kings Row will also have a commemorative mug available, whose cost of $10 includes a pint on the house. Patrons can bring their Movember mug back to Kings Row all month long to receive $1 off all beers. Shave the Date party starts at 6:30 p.m. (free shaves by 18|8 available from 6:30 to 8 p.m.). Truffle dinner: There’s still time to catch the truffle dinner series at Saam, the chef’s tasting room at the Bazaar by Jose Andres. Think Food Group’s Aitor Lozano and the Bazaar’s executive chef Joshua Whigham and sous chef Holly Jivin collaborated with “Truffle Brothers†Michael and Marco Pietroiacovo for a 20-plus-course truffle menu. The menu includes dishes such as a pumpkin meringue sandwich with white truffles and white truffle cotton candy “surprises.†Available on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings until Nov. 17. $275 per person; wine pairing options are an additional $100.
