There’s a new men’s club in town that’s all about shoe shopping and a stiff drink.

The J.P. Club opened at the end of February on the third floor of Tod’s Beverly Hills boutique. It’s the second such club for the brand, which opened the first in its Milan flagship in June 2013.

Boasting a one-on-one personal shopping experience, the by-appointment J.P. Club chummily showcases the new, upscale J.P. Tod’s Sartorial Collection (from $1,700) in leather trunks, while inviting guests to relax in a gentleman’s-club atmosphere that includes an outside terrace. Decorative details in the lounge-like space include an eclectic mix of ‘60s- and ‘70s-inspired furnishings and a leather-covered bar. Guests can partake of Wi-Fi, a selection of newspapers and periodicals, complimentary whiskeys, liqueurs, fine wines and a house cocktail.

The Rodeo Drive store is one of only five in the world to carry the new Sartorial Collection, which officially launches with the fall 2014 line.

The line marks a return to the original J.P. Tod’s logo and focuses on the brand’s master craftsmanship — hand-stitched premium leathers, bespoke construction techniques that date to the 1920s and trademark hand-buffing techniques and treatments designed to “reveal the true essence of the skins,” according to Tod’s General Manager Claudio Castiglioni.

Targeting the style-conscious businessman, the Sartorial Collection includes five classic shoe designs — two styles of lace-up brogues, with and without wingtip detailing; a monk strap shoe, a classic loafer and an ankle boot — as well as a tote bag and two briefcases, all with “double striped” banded stitching down the center.

All pieces can be customized with a choice of Tod’s exclusive Nuvolati leathers that go through multiple rounds of hand-buffing, five colors of English leathers or 11 shades of alligator and an optional embossed or silver monogram. Ready-made pieces, stocked in select sizes, may be purchased outright, while custom orders are delivered in approximately 60 days.

So why did Tod’s choose Los Angeles as the location for the second global J.P. Club?

“L.A. is a place where men are very sensitive to exclusivity and real quality, and people know how to spend their free time in the best way,” says Castiglioni.

We assume that means shopping.
