New York Fashion Week spring 2014: Mara Hoffman review
NEW YORK -- Mara Hoffman’s spring 2014 collection shown Saturday at New York Fashion Week was a pick-me-up if ever there was one, a rainbow haze of color and prints.
The look: Technicolor tribal hippie chic on acid. Iris, serpent and prism prints.
Key pieces: Rainbow dashiki; chiffon cutout maxi-dress; Guatemalan belt shorts; bomber jacket; tie dye peasant skirt; sexy swimwear with cutouts; and beaded sunglasses.
Styling trick to try at home: Guatemalan belt wrapped around a hair braid.
The verdict: A kaleidoscope of fun from a veritable patchouli Pucci. The New York-based Hoffman was “discovered†on the street when “Sex and the City†stylist Patricia Field stopped and asked her what she was wearing (her own designs). She launched her namesake line in 2000, and has built quite a business based on her signature prints.
