Haute Hippie opens first West Coast boutique

Haute Hippie is set to officially open its first West Coast boutique on Monday, just in time for the Christmas season.

The label, established in 2008, offers a sophisticated collection of bohemian women’s wear inspired by a “global nomad’s lifestyle.†The new shop in West Hollywood is the brand’s fourth boutique -- the other three are in New York City.

“There is no other place that represents our brand as [strongly] as West Hollywood due to its history and culture,†Chief Executive Jesse Cole said in a news release.

Company founder and creative director Trish Wescoat Pound echoed the sentiment. “It is the easy, laid-back lifestyle of Los Angeles along with the glamour of the red carpet that I find so inspiring,†she said.

The new boutique is at 8605 W. Sunset Blvd. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

For the second year, Co-op 28.Handmade.Vintage.Home is featuring artists creating their works in the store’s window through the holiday season. Each day from Dec. 1 through Dec. 24, a different artist will be ensconced in the window creating wares ranging from greeting cards to jewelry to home decor. Daily posts on Co-op 28’s Facebook page will announce the artist’s name and time of demonstrations. The store, which carries a range of handmade and vintage clothing, accessories, furniture and decor, is at 1728-1730 N. Vermont Ave. in Los Feliz. Regular hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday. An extended holiday schedule will be announced soon.

Blo blow-dry bar locations in Beverly Hills and Tarzana are hosting tastings of Michelle, a sparkling wine from Washington state’s Domaine St. Michelle, on Dec. 5. The tastings are planned from 6 to 9 p.m. at 252 S. Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills and from 6 to 8 p.m. at 18622 Ventura Blvd., Tarzana. The tastings are free to customers over 21 who have RSVP’d, which you can do at this link. The events will feature door prizes, music and a gift raffle to benefit Locks of Love, an organization that provides hairpieces to children suffering long-term hair loss.

Beats by Dre has opened a holiday pop-up shop at the Grove. The shop is to be open during the shopping center’s holiday hours of operation through Dec. 28. The Grove is at 189 The Grove Drive, Los Angeles.

Ondademar, which specializes in swim and resort wear for women, men and children, opened its first L.A. shop, at 130 S. Robertson Blvd., this week. Store hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
