NBC’s ‘Siberia’ left out in the cold by ‘Under the Dome’ ratings

NBC’s “Siberia� may end up trapped in a nightmare -- of bad ratings.

The drama, a “fake reality� show about would-be TV contestants dropped in a location where things start getting weird in a “Lost� kind of way, premiered Monday at 10 p.m. to a modest 3.2 million total viewers, according to early numbers from Nielsen.

That was no match for CBS’ rival show about trapped people, “Under the Dome,� in which small-town residents find themselves suddenly imprisoned beneath a gigantic transparent dome. Even though its numbers dipped considerably from last week’s premiere, “Dome� still rounded up an impressive 11.5 million viewers.

In the key demographic category of adults age 18 to 49, “Dome� more than doubled the numbers for “Siberia.�

That’s bad news for NBC, which was hoping that “Siberia� could prove to be a summer hit.
