Netflix announces premiere date for Bob Odenkirk and David Cross project
Netflix announced Wednesday the premiere date for “W/ Bob & David,†the new sketch comedy series that reunites Bob Odenkirk and David Cross, a duo made famous by their work on cult classic “Mr. Show.†The Netflix original is scheduled to debut Nov. 13.
The series is Netflix’s latest investment into nostalgia television. The streaming site gave second life to “Arrested Development,†which also featured Cross, airing a fourth season of the series in 2013, in addition to airing an eight-episode prequel series to the film “Wet Hot American Summer†in July of this year.

Netflix isn’t alone in its pursuit to recapture the magic of pop culture past. Nickelodeon plans to re-air some of its classic ’90s hits in a programming block of its own, Fox will revisit “The X-Files,†Showtime will reclimb “Twin Peaks†on Showtime, and network television will welcome the return of the Muppets. The continued diversification of the television model with streaming outlets like Netflix and Amazon.com means that niche programming often gets a second chance to find an audience and creators get more time to focus on their craft as opposed to worrying about ratings.
“W/ Bob & David†looks to reunite Odenkirk and Cross, as well as feature the comedic talents of Paul F. Tompkins, Jill Talley, Jay Johnston, John Ennis, and Brian Posehn, among others. The first season of the series will entail four 30-minute episodes.
