NCIS: Los Angeles Sam (LL Cool J) is out of commission after being shot while trying to catch a CIA-sanctioned spy (Parminder Nagra) in this new episode. Ernie Reyes Jr. and Michael Gaston also guest star. 10 p.m. CBS
The Night Shift In the medical drama’s second-season premiere, Topher (Ken Leung) takes over supervising the night shift while Jordan (Jill Flint) is investigated for her treatment of his assailant after a hostage situation. Eoin Macken, Scott Wolf and Freddy Rodriguez also star. 10 p.m. NBC
Independent Lens Modern racial matters in America are considered through the prism of the past one in Llewellyn Smith’s documentary “American Denial,” which revisits the Jim Crow form of racism through segregation. 10 p.m. KOCE
Castle A simulated trip to Mars ends tragically when one of the astronauts-in-training is killed in this new episode. Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic star with guest star Maxwell Caulfield. 10 p.m. ABC
