The first of what will presumably be many notable horror stars have signed up for Ryan Murphy’s upcoming comedy-horror series “Scream Queens.” Jamie Lee Curtis and Emma Roberts have joined the cast in leading roles.

The series, which is expected to debut its 15-episode first season on Fox in fall 2015, will be set on a college campus where a series of murders is disrupting the normally tranquil life.

Murphy and his fellow “Glee” and “American Horror Story” executive producers Brad Falchuck, Ian Brennan and Dante Di Loreto are behind the series.

Curtis is one of the most famous scream queens in cinema history thanks to her role in the horror classic “Halloween,” as well as roles in “The Fog,” “Prom Night” and “Terror Train.” Though she left horror behind for several years, she returned to the “Halloween” franchise in 1998 for “Halloween H20: 20 Years Later” and “Halloween: Resurrection.”

Roberts starred in “Scream 4” in 2011 and appeared in the third and fourth seasons of “American Horror Story.”

“Scream Queens” may be competing against one of its inspirations next year. MTV’s adaptation of the “Scream” franchise is also expected to debut sometime in 2015.
