Stand-up comedian Hannibal Buress is widely credited as the person who almost single-handedly thrust Bill Cosby’s alleged transgressions back into the national spotlight after he called the 77-year-old entertainer a rapist during his comedy act.

On Wednesday, Buress appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live†and talked about what life has been like as the person who sparked the continuing media firestorm.

“You’re the first one who spoke about Bill, and it snowballed and really put a crimp in his dating life,†Kimmel said.

“It’s definitely a weird situation,†Buress responded. “I get a lot of messages from people about it. You know the weirdest thing about getting a death threat from a male bodybuilder-slash-stripper on Facebook is when you click on his profile and see that you have one mutual friend.â€

Buress continued, “And then having to hit your friend up and saying, ‘Hey can you tell your buddy to stop saying that he’s going to murder me?â€

Since Buress reminded people of the allegations against Cosby, more than 30 women have come forward with stories alleging his sexual abuse.
