Golden Globes: ‘Transparent’ wins for TV series, comedy or musical
“Transparent†made history on Sunday by winning the Golden Globe for television series, musical or comedy. It’s the first time a series that has never aired on a traditional TV channel has won the top TV prize at the Globes. “Transparent†is one of the first original series from online retail giant Amazon.
The series from former “Six Feet Under†writer Jill Soloway stars Jeffrey Tambor as a man in the process of becoming a woman and depicts how that process affects his three adult children.
It has topped many critics’ year-end lists as the best TV series of 2014, so its win at the Golden Globes is no surprise.

Tambor was also nominated for his performance as Maura Pfefferman, a role that showcased his dramatic and comedic skills.
The Amazon series has already been renewed for a second season that will premiere later this year.
“Transparent†beat another much buzzed about series from a digital streaming company, “Orange Is the New Black†on Netflix, as well as HBO’s “Girls†and “Silicon Valley†and “Jane the Virgin†on the CW.
Hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, the 72nd Golden Globes are being held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills and the show is airing live on NBC.
