Alex Trebek, Pat Sajak and Vanna White are staying on the air
Television may constantly be in a state of flux, but three things aren’t changing, for now anyway. “Jeopardy” host Alex Trebek and “Wheel of Fortune” hosts Pat Sajak and Vanna White have all signed new contracts with Sony Pictures Television that will keep them on their respective game shows through the 2017-2018 season.
“Wheel of Fortune” is still the number one syndicated game show on television and brings in a daily audience of 11.4 million viewers. Sajak and White are currently in their 32nd season of doing the show.
Trebek has hosted “Jeopardy!” since 1984 and is currently doing his 31st season of the show. It draws 10.7 million viewers daily.
Though Sajak has hosted “Wheel of Fortune” since 1983 and Trebek has been on “Jeopardy” since 1984, Trebek managed to grab the world record for longest serving game show host last year because Sajak left the daytime version of “Wheel” in 1989 when he got his own short-lived late night talk show on CBS. He returned after the show’s cancellation.
“Jeopardy” also holds the record for most Emmys won by a game show. Its current tally is 31.
