AMC goes unsexy for ‘Small Town Security’
AMC may be most closely identified with the glamourous stylings of “Mad Men,” but from the looks of its new reality series “Small Town Security,” the channel is going as far from the pretty people of 1960s New York as you can get.
The unscripted series, set to premiere after”Breaking Bad”on July 15, follows the exploits of the employees of JJK Security, a family-run security and private investigation company in Ringgold, Ga.
Based on the promo released by AMC, these private detectives are less like Jim Rockford and more like Jim Halpert of”The Office.”For example, these people eat their lunch out of Tupperware containers.
The Brian featured in the clip is Brian Taylor, the office manager, private investigator and process server. Don’t expect a lot of Sam Spade-like action, though. He sits a lot.
The series’ first season will consist of eight half-hour episodes. Executive producers are Ken Druckerman and Banks Tarver, the guys behind “Mob Wives.”
The series will expand on AMC’s unscripted slate, which currently includes Kevin Smith’s “Comic Book Men” and “The Pitch.”
