In the late-night arena, Melania Trump’s plagiarized speech at the Republican National Convention is the gift that keeps on giving.

Two nights after the speech, parts of which were taken from a speech by First Lady Michelle Obama, Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel were still firing away at the wife of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

During the opening monologue of “The Tonight Show,†Fallon jokingly noted how Trump was greeted by his whole family when he returned to Cleveland on Wednesday — well, greeted by everyone except Melania.

“Even weirder, Michelle Obama was there,†he joked.

He also riffed on the news that Meredith McIver, a longtime employee of the Trump organization, had admitted plagiarizing the speech: He made a play on the 1980s TV character MacGyver, who made gadgets out of everyday items.

“If someone is going to beat a new speech out of pieces of an old speech, it should be someone named MacGyver,†Fallon quipped.

Kimmel, host of “Jimmy Kimmel Live†on ABC, also took a barbed shot during his monologue Wednesday.

“This morning, a Trump family staff writer — a woman named Meredith McIver, took responsibility: She apologized and offered to resign. Her explanation was that Melania told her she admires Michelle Obama — and, somehow, that got confused and Mrs. Obama’s words became a key part of her speech,†Kimmel said.

He added, “Basically, the woman who actually wrote the things Melania pretended to write admitted that she pretended to write the thing Melania pretended to write.â€
