Will Smith reportedly remaking musical “Annie” for daughter Willow

Will Little Orphan Annie soon be whipping her hair back and forth? It’s possible, if Will Smith has his way. According to Variety, Smith is talking to Sony about remaking the musical “Annie” with his daughter, the hair-whipping Willow, in the leading role.
Few details have emerged, but Variety reports that rapper and mogul Jay-Z is considering collaborating on the music. That’s a natural pairing on two levels: Not only did the mogul work with Willow on “Whip My Hair,” but he also scored a hit incorporating one of the musical’s most famous songs into “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)”.
It remains to be seen whether the movie would be a straight remake or a new retelling of the story.
It was only a matter of time before Will went looking for a movie property for Willow. His remake of “The Karate Kid,” which starred his son, Jaden, was a box office success.
