Neil Young’s Crazy Horse bassist Billy Talbot has mild stroke
Just as Neil Young and Crazy Horse were preparing to embark on an summer tour of Europe, the veteran group’s bassist Billy Talbot has suffered what is being described as a mild stroke that will prevent him from participating.
The tour will go on, however, with another seasoned Young associate, bassist Rick Rosas, who will step in for the 70 year old Talbot.

FOR THE RECORD
An earlier edition of this post misspelled the surname of bassist Rick Rosas as Rojas.
------------
A statement issued Monday by Young’s label Warner Bros. Records said that Talbot’s doctors expect him to make a full recovery, but they have advised him “to sit out this tour and recover strength.â€
Rosas has played with Young in a variety of settings, including the short-lived Buffalo Springfield reunion shows a few years ago and with Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.
Young’s tour with Crazy Horse tour is scheduled to open July 7 in Reykjavik, Iceland, and run through Aug. 8 in Alsace, France. Lately he’s done a series of solo acoustic shows and, most recently, toured with Crazy Horse last summer.
