Justin Bieber’s ‘Sorry’: How many more hipsters can the kid corral?
Get out your fire emoji, y’all -- the new Justin Bieber single is here.
Released a day earlier than originally promised, “Sorry†is the latest taste from the pop star’s upcoming “Purpose†album, which is due Nov. 13 and comes after several years of widely reported tabloid troubles.
“I know you know that I made those mistakes maybe once or twice,†Bieber sings, “And by once or twice I mean maybe a couple hundred times.â€

More to the point, “Sorry†follows two earlier songs -- “Where Are U Now†and the equally interrogative “What Do You Mean?†-- that have helped remake Bieber’s musical reputation, especially among folks unlikely to have taken him seriously in the past.
As he did for “Where Are U Now,†Bieber teamed with the EDM superstar Skrillex for “Sorry,†which also features production by Blood. And like “What Do You Mean?†the new single is an airy tropical-house banger that makes the singer’s first big hit, the puppyish “Baby,†seem like an artifact from a different era (which it pretty much is).
The countdown to a gig at Coachella begins now.
