HARD Summer sells out, vastly expands over 2014

Tickets for next month’s HARD Summer have sold out and have sold far more than any other year in the fest’s history.
Final ticket sales for this year’s fest, which features varied electronic-music headliners like the Weeknd, Chemical Brothers and Jack U on Aug. 1-2, have substantially expanded since last year. Now HARD Summer, founded in 2007, is the biggest music fest of its kind in the Los Angeles area.
This year’s festival has expanded to a mammoth 65,000 fans per day at the Fairplex in Pomona, for a two-day total of 130,000 over the two-day event. That vastly eclipses last year’s total of 40,000 per day and 80,000 for the weekend at Whittier Narrows.
In attendance terms, that puts HARD Summer past its largest local peers. By comparison, FYF (which hasn’t announced advance sales figures for 2015) attracted 40,000 per day to last year’s slightly ramshackle two-day event at Expo Park, which was still a major increase over its 2013 sales.
HARD Summer’s totals are well under Coachella’s roughly 100,000 per day for six total days, and EDC Las Vegas’ estimated 130,000 nightly totals for their most recent installments.
But that’s enough to establish HARD Summer as not just a heavyweight in L.A. electronic music but as a national-scale force to be reckoned with in global dance music and progressive pop music alike.
