Destiny’s Child has announced the release of “Nuclear,†the first new recording in eight years from the trio of Beyoncé, Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland. The song will be included as the sole new track on “Destiny’s Child -- Love Songs,†a compilation of mostly quiet storm jams described in the press release as “the most sensual romantic recordings from the bestselling vocal group.†The collection will arrive on Jan. 29.

The release of “Nuclear,†produced by Pharrell Williams, doesn’t necessarily signal anything bigger on the horizon for Destiny’s Child. Beyoncé, the most successful of the group’s three singers, has been taking time off from music to care for her and husband Jay-Z’s daughter, Blue Ivy, and preparing for the release of a new solo album, which could come as early as April.

Beyoncé’s website is also teasing Feb. 3 as another big date -- that’s when the singer will headline the Super Bowl halftime show, an event not-so-subtly promoted in a recent GQ pictorial that set the Internet abuzz this week.

Despite her busy schedule, Beyoncé did Tweet, “I am so proud to announce the first original Destiny’s Child music in eight years!â€

“Love Songs†is the second such package for Destiny’s Child, whose dominance on the pop and R&B; charts launched the careers of the three vocalists. From 1997-2005, the group sold more than 60 million records, and many of the bangers of the bunch were featured on last year’s collection “Playlist -- The Very Best of Destiny’s Child.â€
