Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will hit the road in 2016

The Boss is getting back to work.
Bruce Springsteen announced Friday that he’ll tour North America early next year with the E Street Band, the veteran rocker’s first extensive road show with his longtime backing group since 2014.
Called the River Tour, the nine-week trip -- due to launch Jan. 16 in Pittsburgh -- comes in support of “The Ties That Bind: The River Collection,” a new box set out this week that marks the 35th anniversary of Springsteen’s lauded 1980 album “The River.”
“The Ties That Bind” follows a similar reissue of Springsteen’s prior album, 1978’s “Darkness on the Edge of Town,” that was released in 2010. The singer’s most recent studio record of new material, “High Hopes,” came out in 2014.
The River Tour is scheduled to wrap in Los Angeles with two shows at the L.A. Memorial Sports Arena on March 15 and 17. Before Springsteen hits the road, he’s set to perform Dec. 19 on “Saturday Night Live.”
