Aerosmith, NKOTB to play Boston Marathon fundraiser
Aerosmith, New Kids on the Block and the J. Geils Band -- all Massachusetts natives -- are to perform at a concert to benefit victims of the bombings at the Boston Marathon.
Boston Strong: An Evening of Support & Celebration, scheduled for May 30 at Boston’s TD Garden, will also feature performances by James Taylor, Jimmy Buffett, Carole King, Jason Aldean, Godsmack, Extreme, the comedians Dane Cook and Steven Wright and the rock band Boston.
Proceeds from the show will go to One Fund Boston, established by Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino “to help the people most affected by the tragic events that occurred in Boston on April 15,†according to a release.
“Like so many other proud Bostonians who have been extremely generous, we are honored to step up and do our part to help the victims and their families,†said Donnie Wahlberg of New Kids on the Block. “Hopefully this event will not only raise money, but spirits as well.â€
The concert “is destined to a be a true Boston landmark,†added Taylor. “Everyone involved has responded from the heart in a spontaneous and simultaneous desire to be there, and to do what we can for the city we love.â€
Tickets for the show, priced between $35 and $285, are to go on sale Monday.
