Kanye West announces ‘Saint Pablo’ tour
“The Life of Pablo†is finally coming to life.
Kanye West announced Tuesday that he’ll tour North America this year behind his album “The Life of Pablo,†which came out in February.
The Saint Pablo Tour, as the rapper is calling his upcoming road show, will launch Aug. 25 in Indianapolis and wrap Oct. 29 in Las Vegas; in between, the trek will hit cities including New York, Atlanta, Miami, Toronto and Los Angeles, where he’ll play two nights at the Forum on Oct. 25 and 26. Tickets for all shows are set to go on sale Saturday.
West’s first major outing in three years, the Saint Pablo Tour will feature music from “The Life of Pablo,†West’s gospel-accented follow-up to his harsh 2013 album “Yeezus.†The record, initially released exclusively on the streaming service Tidal, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in April when it became available to purchase and to stream through other services such as Apple Music and Spotify. At the time, Billboard said it was the first album to top the chart based primarily on streams.
This month West was expected to perform “Life of Pablo†material at the Governors Ball music festival in New York, but his set was canceled due to severe weather. After the festival announced West wouldn’t appear, the rapper set off a commotion by suggesting he’d play a 2 a.m. show at a Manhattan nightclub; the gig never happened.
On Sunday, West released “Champions,†a new posse cut featuring Gucci Mane, Big Sean, 2 Chainz and others.
