‘#Ham4Bey’ is the ‘Hamilton’ and Beyoncé mashup you didn’t know you wanted
Here’s something to help fans counting down the days until the release of the “Hamilton Mixtapeâ€: a mashup of “Hamilton†and Beyoncé’s music in the form of “#Ham4Bey.â€
Created by L.A.-based artist Michael Korte and arranged by Jared Jenkins, the seven-minute medley kicks off with the familiar lines of “Alexander Hamilton†before blending into Beyoncé’s “Partition.†Performed by India Carney, Vincint, Mariah Maxwell, Jej Millanes, Kelly Margareth Lee and Jamond McCoy, the track only gets more ambitious as “My Shot†weaves into “Survivor†(by Destiny’s Child), “Wait for It†meets “Me, Myself and I†and more.
And really, the marriage of “Guns and Ships†and “Formation†is a musical union you didn’t know you needed.
Korte, an Ohio native, explained in an email to The Times that this “Hamiltonâ€/Beyoncé mashup was conceived over the summer. The project was a self-funded labor of love, and the ensemble consists of friends, students and YouTube musicians Korte and Jenkins brought together.

“This was all happening through the election, and after the election results, I knew what we were doing was all that more important and relevant,†said Korte. “Art made by people of color and queer people highlighting people of color and queer people celebrating a musical and an artist that does both those things.â€
It’s an effort that even earned the approval of “Hamilton†creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.
