Seth MacFarlane’s ‘Million Ways to Die in the West’ red-band trailer
Seth MacFarlane’s comedic western “A Million Ways to Die in the West†has released a bawdy red-band trailer, and true to its name, it demonstrates plenty of ways to meet an untimely end.
They include getting crushed by a huge block of ice, being set aflame by a camera flash, getting shot in a duel, overdosing on a shamanic concoction, being gored by a bull and, somehow, falling victim to a splinter.
MacFarlane directed, produced, co-wrote (with Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild) and stars in the film, playing a cowardly sheep farmer who backs out of a gunfight and loses his girl (Amanda Seyfried), only to fall for a mysterious new woman (Charlize Theron) who helps him find his courage but also has some baggage in the form of an outlaw husband (Liam Neeson).

Fans of the foul-mouthed humor MacFarlane served up in “Ted†and the random digressions of “Family Guy†will find plenty to like in the three-minute spot. For those who find MacFarlane’s comedy off-putting, nothing in the trailer will change their minds.
Universal Pictures will release “A Million Ways to Die in the West†on May 30. The trailer is available on YouTube in all its R-rated glory.
