Filmmaker Peter Berg is looking to reunite with Mark Wahlberg for another fact-based drama.

The “Lone Survivor†and “Deepwater Horizon†director is in negotiations on “Patriots’ Day,†a movie about the Boston Marathon bombing that is being produced by Wahlberg and CBS Films, a person with knowledge of the project confirmed to The Times. Variety first reported the news.

Announced in March, “Patriots’ Day†is to chronicle the 2013 bombing and the ensuing manhunt for the perpetrators, as seen through the eyes of then-Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis. Wahlberg, a Boston native, is circling the role of Davis, though no deal has been set. The script is by Matt Charman (“Bridge of Spiesâ€).

Berg and Wahlberg have become regular collaborators since scoring a surprise hit with the 2013 military drama “Lone Survivor,†based on Navy Seal Marcus Luttrell’s memoir of a botched operation in Afghanistan. They are in production on “Deepwater Horizon,†about the BP oil spill and have an action movie titled “Mile 22†in the works.

“Patriots’ Day†is one of several movies about the Boston bombing in the pipeline. Director David Gordon Green recently boarded Lionsgate’s “Stronger,†and Twentieth Century Fox is developing “Boston Strong,†based on Casey Sherman and Dave Wedge’s nonfiction book.
