‘The Martian,’ ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ among nominees for production design awards
“The Martian,†“Star Wars: The Force Awakens†and “The Danish Girl†earned nominations Tuesday morning for the 20th Art Director’s Guild Excellence in Production Design Awards.
Theatrical film nominations are divided into period, fantasy and contemporary categories.
Vying in the period category are Adam Stockhausen for “Bridge of Spies,†Thomas E. Sanders for “Crimson Peak,†Eve Stewart for “The Danish Girl,†Jack Fisk for “The Revenant†and Mark Ricker for “Trumbo.â€
Nominees for fantasy film are Dante Ferretti for “Cinderella,†Edward Verreaux for “Jurassic World,†Colin Gibson for “Mad Max: Fury Road,†Rick Carter and Darren Gilford for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens†and Scott Chambliss for “Tomorrowland.â€
Competing in the contemporary film category are Mark Digby for “Ex Machina,†Judy Becker for “Joy,†Arthur Max for “The Martian,†Patrice Vermette for “Sicario†and Dennis Gassner for “Spectre.â€
Among the television series receiving nominations Tuesday in various categories were “Downton Abbey,†“Game of Thrones,†“Mad Men,†“Better Call Saul,†“Empire,†“American Horror Story: Hotel,†“The Muppets,†“Conan†and “Saturday Night Live.â€
Winners will be announced Jan 31. at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
