Even with weather as generally terrific as ours (air quality alerts aside), getting kids outside isn’t always easy given the pull of TV, summer movies and videogames. Hosted by the Children’s Nature Institute and the Natural History Museum of L.A. County, the fifth annual Kids Rock Music and Eco Fest features all sorts of outdoor pleasures including music by the Verve Pipe, animals, crafts and, of course, food trucks. Hancock Park between LACMA and the La Brea Tar Pits. 11 a.m. Sun. Free. https://www.childrensnatureinstitute.org.
