Lola’s on Fairfax, where owner Loren Dunsmore claims to have invented the apple martini more than 15 years ago, is in the process of reinventing itself. That means a new chef, an updated look and a whole new take on the martini. For the latter feat, barman J Graham worked magic in his liquor lab with Tanteo tequilas, which are infused with a variety of flavors including cocoa and chocolate. One of his most popular concoctions is a margarita-martini hybrid (call it a margatini?) named La Vida Loca. It mingles spicy jalepeño-infused tequila with sticky sweet triple sec, fresh-squeezed orange juice, lime juice and salty olive juice for an oddly refreshing, liquor-forward drink that will knock you flat if slow-sipping isn’t your thing.
