Even Iron Man can twist an ankle. Robert Downey Jr., the hammy captain of the massive “Avengers,” sustained a small injury this week on the set of “Iron Man 3.”
On location in Wilmington, N.C., Downey hurt his ankle mid-stunt, a release from Marvel Studios said.
Production on the film, costarring Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Kingsley and Don Cheadle, will experience a slight delay. A rep for Robert told EW that the star would be just fine, and that’s good news for the film’s fast-approaching May 3, 2013, opening day.
Speaking of openings: Marvel has announced that the sequel to Joss Whedon’s “Avengers” will hit theaters May 1, 2015.
A staggering box office success, the second “Avengers” presumably will reunite Downey with Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo.
