Kristen Stewart cheating scandal: The week in review

If last week was the longest week in Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson’s lives, as pictures of her hooking up with director Rupert Sanders went public, this past week was probably the second-longest, with the two of them trying to stay off the radar as speculation swirled and fans tried to move past it all.

First there were rumors that Rob had fled to his native London and was partying it up with friends to get over the hurt. Puh-leeze. Seems that he spent some time holed up in Ojai at “Water for Elephants” costar Reese Witherspoon’s off-the-grid ranch estate, then moved on to parts unknown.

He will, however, be doing promotion for”Cosmopolis,”which opens Aug. 17 in L.A. and New York. That after a report emerged that he had bailed on publicity for the project, a notion his rep rejected soundly.

Kristen, meanwhile, has been similarly low-key, though we’ve gotten a little-birdie report that she’s been spotted a couple of times at Gold’s Gym in Venice, working on core strength and muscular endurance with a personal trainer. Makes sense, given the gut-punches she’s been taking.

She reportedly has a new job too, one bright spot in this dark stretch. She’ll take the lead role as Peyton Loftis in an adaptation of William Styron’s “Lie Down in Darkness.”

And back to the fans: One of them -- “fan” Will Ferrell -- was spectacularly upset Thursday night on Conan O’Brien’s show.

“She’s a trampire,” the actor bellowed, seemingly near tears, delivering the cheating scandal in a nutshell. While we doubt he’s truly into the fandom, since he blows Rob’s last name, he’s still hilarious. (See the video at Show Tracker.)
