Hollywood Headlines: A crazy week in review
Tracy Morgan suffered a medical scare at the Sundance Film Festival on Sunday when he lost consciousness after an awards ceremony. The comedian’s publicist, Lewis Kay, quickly ruled out drugs and alcohol, blaming the collapse on altitude and exhaustion instead. However, the trip to the hospital didn’t keep Morgan out of commission. The actor was back in New York by Tuesday and tweeting jabs at costar Alec Baldwin. “On the set of 30 Rock, just walked past @alecbaldwin and said Top That!,” he wrote, referencing Baldwin’s recent kerfuffle with a certain airline. Demi Moore’s Monday night started with a trip to Beacher’s Madhouse with daughter Rumer Willis and ended with a 911 call and trip to the emergency room. While her rep is saying that the actress is seeking treatment for “exhaustion” and her “overall health,” a tape of the call (at least the parts that weren’t bleeped out) revealed Moore was “smoking something” when things went downhill. And, on top of seeking “professional treatment,” Moore has also dropped out of her upcoming role in “Lovelace.” (Prakash Mathema / AFP / Getty Images)
Ron Howard took to Twitter this week to announce the latest addition to his carrot-topped clan and Hollywood tweeted right back. The joyful posts were of course about his daughter Bryce Dallas Howard’s new baby girl, with husband Seth Gabel, Beatrice Jean Howard-Gabel. “Bryce and Baby B are spectacular,” Howard wrote. In the flurry of tweets that followed, Baby B even received a prospective job offer from M. Night Shyamalan, “Hey Ron, tell Bryce congratulations from our whole family. Michael Jackson’s memory will live on outside Grauman’s Theatre in Hollywood, even though the King of Pop never had the chance to leave his hand and footprints at the famous site. In the first posthumous cementing ceremony, his children, from left, Prince, Paris and Blanket used his shoes and white glove to leave their father’s mark. The celebration also celebrated the Cirque du Soleil show, “Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour.”
