‘Tangled: The Musical’ reveals how Disney will adapt the animation into live action
When “Tangled: The Musical†hits the stage on the Disney Magic cruise liner in November, audiences will be treated to 11 different locations re-created from the film.
Set designer Brad Kaye explains in a behind-the-scenes video that one of the fun challenges of bringing “Tangled: The Musical†to the stage was in re-creating these locations people know and love from the movie.
“Tangled,†of course, is Walt Disney Pictures’ 2010 animated take on the Brothers Grimm’s fairy tale “Rapunzel.†The young titular princess, who is kidnapped for her long magical hair, longs to leave her secluded tower.
The video reveals some concept art for the various sets of the musical, including a look at Rapunzel’s tower, the forest and the Snuggly Duckling.
The musical will feature three new songs written by Alan Menken, with lyrics by Glenn Slater, the pair who wrote and composed the original soundtrack.
